Contents/Liability insurance
3.2.1 Extent of cover
The insurance policy covers the liability for damages incurred by the insured pursuant to the rental agreement for damage to the household effects in the rented holiday home during the insurance period, including damage to glass panes and bowls.
3.2.2 Exceptions
Compensation will not be paid for:
a) Normal wear and tear, scratches, grazes, smudges or gradual deterioration.
b) Theft committed by the insured or the insured's visitors.
c) Liability for damages in respect of damage inflicted wilfully.
d) Liability for damages in respect of damage inflicted by the insured under self-induced intoxication or the influence of narcotics or other drugs when this is a significant contributory cause of the damage.
e) Damage inflicted by dogs or other pets.
f) Bicycles and vessels, including windsurfing boards, rowing boats, canoes and kayaks, including parts thereof.
g) Cosmetic damage to bowls, including Jacuzzis and whirlpool baths.
h) Damage to swimming pools and the water therein.
3.2.3 Insurance amount
The insurance amount is up to EUR 10.000 for damage to household effects during the insurance period.
3.2.4 Deductible
The deductible is EUR 67,- per instance of damage.
3.2.5 Calculation of compensation
a) Compensation for totalled household effects will be calculated according to the following principles: Compensation for effects that are less than two years old, and which where otherwise undamaged prior to the damage, will be the replacement cost of similar new effects. Compensation for effects that are more than two years old will be the replacement cost of similar new effects less 10 per cent per commenced year from the year of purchase. Compensation for such effects will as a minimum be 20 per cent of the replacement value.
b) The company may elect to have damaged effects repaired or to pay an amount corresponding to the decrease in value.
c) The company is entitled but not obliged to pay compensation in kind.
3.2.6 Recognition of claim for damages
The company is only obliged to compensate for costs incurred with the approval of the company. The insured's recognition or payment of a claim for damages will not bind the company. By recognising the liability for damages, the insured will risk having to pay the damages himself.
3.2.7 What to do in case of an insurance event
The insured must immediately report an instance of damage to the rental agency and submit the required documentation.
llness/Injury/Death=It is a condition for Europæiske’s liability to pay compensation that the Insured procures a medical certificate stating the diagnosis from the attending physician at the location/destination and that the Insured upon request grants Europæiske’s physician access to all relevant medical reports including information on previous ailments. In the event of curtailment, the Insured must consult the physician at the location/destination before departure.
Fire or Burglary=In the event of fire or burglary, the completed claims form shall be accompanied by a police report.
Unemployment=In the event of unemployment a copy of the written notice must be submitted. In the event of commencement of a new job a copy of the employment contract must be submitted.
3.2.8 Double insurance
The insurance policy will not cover costs covered by another insurance policy.
3.2.9 Sum Insured
The sums insured and part sums stated in the conditions for each individual cover limit Europæiske’s liability to pay compensation in all insurance events occurring during the insurance period/package tour.
3.2.10 Right of recourse
In the event that the claim is covered by an insurance of property, the tortfeasor's liability for damages pursuant to the Danish Liability for Damages Act (erstatningsansvarsloven) and thus the liability insurance cover will lapse, unless the damage was inflicted wilfully or in an act of gross negligence.
3.2.11 Insurance Complaints Board
If any dispute or controversy arises between the Insured and Europæiske in connection with the insurance, and if a renewed appeal to Europæiske does not result in a satisfactory outcome, the Insured may lodge a complaint with:
