Sète

The city Sète has about 40.000 inhabitants and is a Mediterranean seaside resort. Sète is situated on the south-eastern hub of the enclosed salt water lake Bassin de Thau. The city is built upon and around Mont St Clair, which on the top gives a wonderful panoramic view over the town.
Sète is known for its twelve kilometres of fine sandy beaches. The town is often called « Little Venice of Languedoc » because of its typical districts crossed by canals that reflect the colourful facades of the houses and gives the city centre a lot of charm and atmosphere. The fishing port is placed in the centre of the town and the flotilla of trawlers and tuna boats that are moored along the quays and bring fresh fishes to the restaurants along the same quays ensure that here is always something to look at.
During the summer Sète offer a lot of events as the feasts of Saint Pierre and Saint Louis, as well as the three important music festivals: "Jazz in Sète", "When I think of Fernande" (French music) and "Fiesta Sète".
