If you love nature, a holiday in Abruzzo is just the right thing for you and your family! You can enjoy nature at its most beauty whether you are staying by the sea or in the mountains. There is nothing less than three big national parks in the region which provide the possibility of experiencing nature on its own premises.
To have a holiday in Abruzzo does not only mean to travel through nature but also through history from old villages with fortresses to abbeys and churches hewed into the rocks and often built on top of old temples. But be careful when you walk in the wonderful nature because you may meet a lynx, a wolf or a bear around the corner.
The sandy beaches in the northern part of the region are a big contrast to the rough rocks which constitute the southern stretch of coast. The hinterland consists of hills that offer good opportunities for trekking, and between the hills, you will find small, quiet villages. The western part of Abruzzo is dominated by the rough ridges of the Apennines.
