Yet another of the wonderful lakes of Lombardy is the deep Lake Lugano named after the charming and authentic city, Lugano, that, with the old winding streets full of life, shops and world-class art museums, is a fairly special experience. The city also offers beautiful parks; or how about a trip in the cable car from the city to some of the surrounding mountains? The city provides great opportunities of eventful and relaxing hours. Trips to the neighbouring cities, Porlezza, Corrido and Carlazzo, are recommendable.
The landscape of Lake Lugano
The beautiful landscape has been used in shootings of a number of films. And it is almost impossible not to be fascinated by the deep, blue lake surrounded by green hillsides. To the east, you will find the 750 m Brunate Mountain. The top of this mountain is connected to the valley by a more than hundred years old cog wheel way.
In the winter, the skiing season starts late in November and lasts until March.
