San Gimignano

San Gimignano

San Gimignano is a small medieval hill town in the province of Siena in Tuscany which has remained largely unchanged since the Middle Ages. The city is famous for its medieval architecture, especially its fourteen conserve towers and is declared to be part of the World’s Architectural Heritage by UNESCO.

San Gimignano is famous for its white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano grown in the area. You can visit local vineyards and co-operatives for wine-tastings throughout the year.
The city has various events throughout the year such as market every Thursday, wine-tastings, especially during the autumn harvest-season, carnival celebrations in February, Easter processions, harvest festivals the 3rd weekend in June, summer music festivals in July and August, and of course Christmas and New Year celebrations.
