The landscape of Veneto is varied. To the North it is dominated by the majestic mountains and to the South, you will find a more flat landscape which is especially dominating in the coastal areas.

Large cities in Veneto: Venice, Verona and Jesolo
Veneto’s splendid cities reveals the region’s former historical status as one of the superpowers of the Mediterranean Sea, better known as the republic of Venice.
Venice may very well be the most famous of the cities in Veneto. The city is unique because of its canals, but is also unique because it pocesses a historical abundance and an atmosphere, which is fantastically exceptional.
Lovely Verona has everything one’s heart desires with regards to evocative squares, Roman monuments, wonderful restaurants, a beautiful surrounding nature and not least the Roman amphitheatre with the grandiose operas.
The beautiful, long beach promenade in Jesolo is known and beloved by many. The city offers a lot of entertainment for everybody. For the children there are many activities on the beach and a great amusement water park. For the adults you will find a wide selection of shops, restaurants, shows and sport activities to sea and on the beach. Young people have access to a lot of bars, clubs, discotheques, which every night try to make the most original party.
Tourist attractions in Veneto
When being on holiday in Veneto, the Lake Garda is an obvious tour destination. Italy’s largest and most clean lake is beautifully encircled by pleasant villages, flowering gardens with cypresses and grapevines and olive trees on the slopes. A visit to or a holiday in Venice is a most unique experience. From the morning haze rises until the full moon stands clear in the sky, it is an outstanding experience to sail in a gondola on the romantic canals of Venice under the beautiful bridges Scalzi, Rialto and Akademi, past the St. Marcus Square and the Doge’s Palace via the main artery Canal Grande. A trip to Venice is an experience for life.
The area offers a number of wine routes. The routes lead you into the beautiful landscape and provide you with the possibility of stopping on one of the vineyards to get a tour and taste the local wine.
Sports activities in Veneto
Veneto’s fantastic location provides a large range of sports activities. In the Dolomites mountains you can ski, along the coast, and on Lake Garda, there is a great number of yachting activities, walks, mountain biking possibilities and of course the possibility of swimming.
Along the coast in e.g. Jesolo you will find almost any imaginable water sport activity such as swimming, diving, windsurfing, sail boating, water skiing, sea scooting and paraflying. Practicing sports is very pleasant on the beach where you can play beach volley, beach rugby and football.
Gastronomic characteristics of Veneto
The Veneto cuisine is characterised by fresh fish and shellfish in the coastal areas prepared in a simple, tasty and elegant way.
When you go further into the region, you will typically find more meat, and the use of butter is often more widespread than the use of olive oil. Veal, pork, lamb, horse, sausages and ham from pigs is often to be found on the menu as well as Veneto’s well-known cheese from ewe’s milk, cow’s milk and goat’s milk.
The wines of Veneto are especially known for the great wines Amarone and Valpolicella Classico and are a chapter by itself. Some of the most famous vineyards in the area are Romano Dal Forno, Le Ragose, Giuseppe Quintarelli, Sartori, Brunelli, Speri and Masi.
The climate of Veneto
The climate of Veneto is pleasant all year. The summers may, however, be very hot and humid, especially in the low areas along the coast. Autumn and spring are lovely months to visit Veneto. In these periods, you will find less tourists and pleasant temperatures.
