Costa del Garraf

The beautiful “Costa del Garraf” is situated in the Spanish region of Catalonia to the south of Barcelona and around the estuary of the river Llobregat. The coastline along the Garraf Massif is abrupt and dotted with small coves and from here down to the southern part of Sitges it becomes lower and sandy once again.

The northern coast consists mostly of rocky bays with hidden coves whilst the southern coast offers the most splendid sandy beaches.

Sitges is perhaps the most well-known touristic and cultural resort, as Sitges counts with 22 beaches and a wonderful promenade with palm trees. But Villanova i La Geltrú, Castelldefells and Canyelles are also very lovely and well-known resorts. All offer beautiful beaches and an ample choice of restaurants, entertainment, lively nightlife and every imaginable pastime.
Tourist attractions in Costa del Garraf
The most interesting places from the cultural point of view are the museums of Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú. Worthwhile a visit are the Cau Ferrat Modernist Museum and the Summer University in Palacio Maricel. Castelldefels is a very popular destination due to its well known beaches and sportive facilities together with the small cosy village of Garraf. Interesting excursions are to the wine yards of Penedés, the Museum of Vilafranca or the Cava bodegas of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the tourist centres as Sant Pere de Ribes and the marinas in La Ginesta and Aiguadolç.

Costa del Garraf is ideal for water sports. Vilanova y la Geltrú offers a wide range of options: canoeing, scuba diving, sailing, riding, golf. Canyelles has 7 kilometres from rocky beaches and 12 kilometres from sandy beaches and all water sports can be enjoyed in the area: diving, sailing, surfing, water skiing.You can also play tennis, football, squash and golf after having fun in the blue waters. What about a bike? Catalonia has kilometres and kilometres of perfectly signposted tracks and trails.
