Merlino is a pretty apartment, one half of a beautifully restored barn. It has a terrace and garden area for relaxing and dining al fresco. Immersed in the countryside it is an ideal location from which to tour Tuscany, and perfect for taking lovely walks enjoying the picturesque panoramas.
Merlino is located in a pretty barn on a small family run farm just 7km from San Gimignano with its historic monuments, many craft shops, various restaurants and open air swimming pool. There are pleasant views of the Elsa Valley from the farm which produces wine and olive oil and they have an attractive assortment of animals including ducks, pigeons, doves, chickens and a blackbird which are kept at the owners seperate farmhouse across the lane.
The barn is divided into just two apartments Il Merlino and No 47 Galizia. It has been thoughtfully restored maintaining its interesting architectural features as esemplified by the slanted brick and glass windows which allow for the bright interiors, and traditional beamed ceilings.
Merlino is comfortably furnished in a pleasant mix of traditional and modern styles. Its living/dining room opens on to the apartment's terrace and garden area next to the olive grove and is furnished with table and chairs for eating outside, sun loungers, sun umbrella and a barbecue. Parking is in the grounds next to the apartments.
It is an excellent location for enjoying country walks as the farm is connected to other tiny hamlets and farmhouses by a network of little used country lanes and pathways that crisscross the countryside affording lovely views in all directions. Just 5km down the road is Poggibonsi with its supermarkets, shops, restaurants, open air swimming pool and road and rail links to Florence and Siena making it very easy to visit Tuscany’s major sights.
Please note, this is simple farm accommodation, therefore suitable for those seeking basic amenities and real country surroundings. It is not suitable for persons seeking a high standard recently renovated properties or modern facilities.
